Judging Details

  • Sign up: Sign up for all classes at the RBR Activities Room ASAP, but no later than 1/2 hr. before your class begins. Judging rules may be obtained there all week.

  • Legal mufflers* are required in all classes except "Exhibition," where show-quality trailered bikes are welcome. *To determine "legal," our judges test with a dB meter which is set "loosely," 2 dB above the NYS limit of 82dB(A), so it's really about 84dB.

  • A $5 charitable donation is requested per category entered for full week Americaders. Day Trippers are required to pay a $5 entrance fee per category entered. Proceeds go to Double "H" Hole in the Woods Ranch for critically ill children. You must have a valid wristband for the appropriate judging day. Free samples of Bike Wash from Cycle Care to all entrants, plus class winners' prizes.

  • Only one motorcycle class per entrant/owner. 3 entries minimum, per class, or it will be combined with the next logical class.

  • Judged motorcycles must have been ridden a minimum of 100 miles ( no "Trailer Queens.") (1) mechanical and electrical functions, (2) general condition and cleanliness, (3) originality and creativity. Uniform 100 point judging sheets are used (available at the Activities Desk) , plus three experienced judges, assures impartial and accurate evaluations. The referee will settle any protests in conference with the judges. This decision is final.

  • Long Distance: awards in 7 categories:
    Male Solo
    Female Solo
    Couple
    3-wheelers
    Trailers
    International Long Distance (includes air miles) We use the Rand McNally website to verify mileage.
    Longest Trip to Americade (total indirect trip mileage) We require some documentation (i.e. a couple of receipts for places en route).

    One Long Distance award max per contestant. Long Distance Contest contestants must register before 7pm Thursday.

  • Decorative Lighting has 2 separate classes: standard and computer. Functional Lighting tests focus, intensity & spread. 3 Classes: Open Halogen, Stock Plus, and Open HID

  • Parade Outfits will take place before the parade departs Saturday morning. The crazier the costume, the merrier. Winners will be introduced during the Party on Prospect Mountain Saturday. Saturday Judging includes: Most original parade outfit, funniest parade outfit, and best dressed couple. Participants: register by 4pm Friday at RBR or just before the parade on Westbrook Rd. Judging is at Parade Line-up on Westbrook Rd., Saturday, 9:20 am. All winners' names are posted on RBR info board, published in Americade Times and on the Americade website.

  • At the Friday evening Awards Ceremony, we introduce: Best of Show and Long Distance winners. As well as the Oldest/Youngest winners, 5 categories: Oldest Rider, Passenger, Couple, Motorcycle & Youngest Rider. Contestants must register by noon, Friday.

  • All Trophies must be picked up at RBR by 2pm Saturday afternoon, or $15 s/h fee to mail.

  • Judges will settle any protests on day of event, in conference with our referee. The decision of this conference will be final. And remember, folks, these contests are supposed to be . . . FUN !
