Biography
With over 35 years of riding experience, Pete Woodruff is the holder of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association’s LIFE GRAND MASTER Tour Rider Certificate 001 and 750,000 Safe Mile Awards.
Pete was certified in 1980 as a MSF Instructor and became the U.S. Army's first MSF Chief Instructor in 1981. In 1983, he was awarded the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's John E. Harley Memorial Award in recognition of outstanding contribution towards improved motorcycle safety.
From 1987 to 1997, he held the position of National Director, GWRRA, in charge of their international rider education and safety programs for the 65,000 member association. After 10 years of service as a GWRRA National Director, Pete retired and was named Founder, GWRRA Rider Education.
In 2000, Pete was selected as the Chief Judge for the International Drill Team Federation (IDTF).
In 2001, Pete was named GWRRA’s National Coordinator for the Trike Special Interest Group.
In 2003 he was appointed the first Executive Director of Trike Riders International (TRI), a world-wide trike riders association with members in every state plus Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Wales and the United Kingdom.
Pete is twice retired--from the U.S. Army in 1984 where he flew helicopters, with three tours in Vietnam, and from Lockheed Martin in 1988 as a safety coordinator. He now enjoys riding his trike (over 15,000 miles a year), traveling, and providing motorcycle safety seminars all over the world.
