Adirondack
Dual-Sport: The Adirondacks have some of the best dirt riding in the Eastern USA for a D-S bike. This tour’s secondary dirt roads lead you to a hearty lunch at a cozy inn tucked away in the wilderness. (This lunch site can be reached via optional asphalt roads as well.) Incidentally, last year this rustic jewel of a restaurant received top marks on the Tip Slips.
You get 3 choices for your return route; quick n’ easy asphalt (1 hr), reverse route (3 hrs) or gnarly dirt trails (4+ hrs. & requires a private trail pass at extra cost, and full knobby tires). Info on that option will be available at lunch.
When: Thursday & Friday
Lunch served at 11:30am; door prizes follow around noon
Saddle Up: Don’t miss Americade’s first-ever group horseback ride ! Throw your leg over a beautiful one horsepower sightseeing machine and enjoy a 1 hour ride with fellow Americaders on gorgeous Adirondack trails. Don’t forget your camera. Location is 20 mins. from Lake George. Departures every 1/2 hr. starting at 10am.
When: Tuesday - Thursday
Whitewater Rafting: Discover the excitement of whitewater rafting on the scenic Sacandaga River. Rafts (which can hold groups of 6, 8 or 10) will carry you and your friends down the class II & III beginner rapids, with professional guides OR on your own. Their bus brings you back to a tasty BBQ cooked by the river, with burgers, dogs, pasta salad, chips, brownie and lemonade. Raft 11am - 1pm; lunch follows.
If you have some non-rafting friends who'd like to take photos of you and your raft in action, they can go to the uniquely shaped parabolic Bow Bridge (may be part of the Poker Run route) about 12:30. Your raft will go under it, about 100 yards before you "make land" at the raft takeout location. In fact, if they want, they can follow your bus back and eat at the riverside BBQ (for $12.)
