Americade announces a record-setting number of manufacturers (17) doing demo rides this year.
BMW, Buell, H-D, Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph, Victory, Yamaha and Hummer have done demos at Americade for years, some for all 25 years here. They are joined this year by KTM, Kymco, Moto Guzzi, plus new 3-wheelers from Motor Trike, Piaggio, Spyder and Thoroughbred, and also the new electric scooter from Vectrix.
Why are so many demo teams at Americade 2008? According to some factory reps, it's a combination of things: the easy access from Roaring Brook Ranch to the winding upstate NY country roads and to nearby I-87, plus the large upscale crowds and the pleasant atmosphere of the Lake George region.
Americade Founder Bill Dutcher commented: "last year we hosted 14 brands and I doubted that we'd ever exceed that record number. I was wrong. In order to accommodate the growing number of manufacturers this year, we had to increase the size of the lots."
Demos start Tuesday June 3 and conclude Saturday June 7. Since each manufacturer runs their own schedule and has their own requirements, riders are urged arrange appointments early in Americade Week.
14 of the 17 manufacturers are located at Roaring Brook Ranch near exit 21 of I-87. For those who are not already registered for Americade 2008, access passes are available at the Lake George Holiday Inn from 8am Tuesday June 3 to 5pm Friday June 6.
