Americade - A Good Member of its Host Community
Americade and the Lake George region have a very positive relationship. This is partly because of the many friendships formed between Americaders and local residents, partly because of the massive economic impact on the region, and partly because of our annual charitable donations.
We are proud of the fact that Americade and Americaders, in conjunction with local charities, have raised nearly $1 million to date.
We give most of our charitable donations to LOCAL charities, because we want to support our host community. We work with many charities (nearly 30), either by helping them fundraise at Americade, and/or by making outright donations to them.
Americade also works hard behind the scenes, in many ways, to "be a good citizen." Here's how:
We'll even pay more to buy locally. To support local suppliers and vendors, we often pay more than the lowest out-of-area quote.
We limit the size of our event, to be good neighbors. We put our money where our mouth is. By strongly discouraging illegally loud motorcycles from attending our convention, this inevitably reduces the number of attendees. We do this because we don't want our attendees to offend our host community, as has happened with several other large motorcycle gatherings. Sure, this limits our growth, but we know that continuing to be good guests is the right thing to do.
We support local law enforcement during the convention. They do a very professional job with this challenging responsibility.
Americade is 10 local folks, working full time, year round to make this event what it is, plus 220+ great volunteers (yes, volunteers) who help during the event.
